Once your core flexibility and strength is restored, it is important to stretch regularly to keep the calf muscles and plantar fascia long and mobile. These stretches can help.
Find the step and lower the heel until you feel the stretch in the calf in the back of the leg or the bottom of the foot. Hold for 30 seconds x 3 repetitions.
Lean against a wall 1 foot in front and one foot behind you with your knees straight. Lunge forward until you feel the stretch on the calf in the back of the leg. Hold for 30 seconds x 3 times.

This can be challenging to resolve for a number of reasons, however, there is one reason in particular that inhibits complete recovery – inflammation of the periosteum at the tibialis posterior tendon attachment in the foot. Remember, these attachments are the deepest attachments in the arch of the foot and are basically impossible to treat properly without needles. Tibialis posterior is the most problematic muscle in the arch of the foot, when it comes to plantar fasciitis, and foot pain in general. Remember, this is the deepest muscle in the calf and it starts below the knee. The posterior tibialis tendon wraps around the medial malleolus and attaches to the base of the metatarsals (2-4, usually) and holds our arch in whatever position is normal for you. If you have any arch, and you cut the tibialis posterior tendon, your arch will collapse with the weight. So, if cutting the string makes the sky flat, what happens if you shorten the string? No, the feet don’t fall, hope… if it does, call me… the sky will be bigger, higher.
