But when it comes to actually feeling at home
I’ve always been drawn to the unique charm, character, and personality that vintage and antique furniture can bring to a space. Today, most of the furniture in our homes—our Marcel Breuer dining room or the large burlwood dresser in our living room—is antiques found at furniture stores. Today I’m rounding up the best places to find such gems, both in NYC and online!

I spent a lot of time on my last trip to Paris (actually my trips to Paris) treasure hunting in the flea markets of Saint-Ouen. It’s an old and pristine paradise, and I can’t recommend it highly enough, as there’s no shortage of amazing discoveries to be made. However, when it comes to home decor, I don’t always have to go overboard to find something unique. Closer to home, here are some of my favorite destinations where I might stumble upon something amazing. If you don’t live in New York, don’t worry, good internet will never hurt you.
The Best Stores To Buy Mid Century Modern Furniture Online
Recap: You know those stores you just can’t walk into without feeling like you’ve made a huge mistake? This is one of them. Even if you’re not in the market, this fun shop is hard to ignore. Beautiful, high-quality vintages are so special that you’ll feel like you’ve splurged on another occasion. The quality is so good, you’d think everything was priced right. Make it a vintage day in Brooklyn and a few more places.
Brooklyn Reclamation: “Reclamation” is the word you want to hear when you’re in the mood for a good vintage dig. In addition to furniture, this place also offers custom pieces made from reclaimed materials that you can check out in store. Perfect for someone who loves vintage and also appreciates a good industrial piece! Fans of unique surfaces and tablets will lose hours here.
Outdoor Modern: Think of this as your own mid-century modern emporium. Everything you see in someone’s wonderful apartment therapy. Everything is here and in excellent condition. The high character of this showroom means it’s less of a hunt or adventure, and more of a costly investment, but that’s okay for the right piece.
I like Mike’s: If you’re very set on the furniture front and want to take things to the next level, from accessories to decor pieces and art, you really need to check this place out. It’s easy to get lost in vintage inspirations like antique watches and men’s ice buckets and take home more than you’d like, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing when it comes to vintage. Try not to buy an old phone. I am against you
How To Sell Furniture Online: Tips & Tricks
Big Good Things: A New York staple, Big Good Things is one of those stores you “go to” where you’ll walk out with new kitchens and antique chandeliers. This place is timeless, which is interesting because they sell vintage and antiques, but it’s hard to think of a more famous place in the Big Apple that we love.
AptDeco: Anyone who buys vintage furniture online must be a fan of the Hunter. If you think you can put together a vintage glass coffee table in 20 minutes, we need to talk. But don’t worry, the hunt at AptDeco is likely to be great. It’s a buy/sell platform (shipping starts at $35!), and while it’s not particularly vintage, if you don’t mind splurging on an occasional Ikea outfit, you can find some real gems here. Can be found at amazing prices.
Chair: Perhaps the most genius idea in selling vintage furniture, the chair is a no-nonsense Craigslist. The site is stocked with rare, curated furniture, decor pieces and art! There’s a lot to see, but if you have an eye (and budget) for great, original vintage furniture, start here.
Ezi: Ezi is really hard to compete with. The sheer number here means good prices and unique items galore. You may be lost among the mid-century dressers and plush chairs, wondering where the last couple of hours went, but for some of us, it was a Wednesday night well spent. Experiment with your search terms to find what you’re looking for.
Best Online Furniture Stores According To Interior Designers
All Home: If like me you think vintage gear hunting is a real sport, check out auctions. All in all, the House will have a smaller selection than the ETSIS of the world, but it’s still an excellent (and interesting!) source for striking gold. For example, Haywood-Wakefield is currently offering a set of four chairs for $65! Will we all be at the auction again? I think so too.
1stDibs: It’s hard to argue with this old and age-old staple. For those who know what they want (and they know they want it in great condition), this is a window into your treasure. There is a shop. For non-stop compliments from friends, get ready for a mini-heart attack when something comes within ten feet of your prize.

That’s why they’re included here – this wouldn’t be a complete list of where to buy vintage furniture online without them! – But today, I am telling you more than that. Well, we’re talking about the 23 best places to source vintage without leaving your home. Small businesses have deep cuts. There’s a new little startup! There are stores I’m considering pulling from this list because I’m creating competition for myself. Takeaway: There’s something for everyone. I’ve patronized every retailer here (except, of course, the $80,000 apartment program—you’ll know it when you see it) and hope you find your new favorite store. Be sure to check it out because I really love each of these companies and I’m very impressed with all the inventory they keep and share. So… are you ready for a treasure hunt? Want to steal? (Because, like, I don’t know if that translates or not, but I’m so excited for you.) I’m going to start this off with one of my all-time favorites, so get ready…
I’ve been trading with LA AES since 2019 – I snagged a 1970s Lulette coffee table on their site for a freakin’ song – and it’s my best-kept vintage resource (so far, I think.). AES specializes in auctions and estate sales in LA (who would have thought?) and their inventory is amazing, high quality and constantly changing.
How 5 Vintage Furniture Dealers Went From Living Paycheck To Paycheck To Owning Six Figure Businesses
Shipping or delivery can be arranged with AES, but I also recommend searching your own auctions and estate sales. Many of these businesses have a low public profile because their primary customers are pickers, shop owners, and estate sale fanatics… but if you can find them all, you’ll find great opportunities. If you find a comparable inventory sharing company in your area, please leave it in the comments – I’d love to check them out.
A brick-and-mortar vintage store that stocks every item in its inventory. It is literally a dream. At Amsterdam Modern you’ll find pages on great vintage lighting, furniture and decor (seriously – there are 23 pages
Seat) is in good condition. .
The bad news: AptDeco currently serves the US Northeast and the San Francisco Bay Area. The good news is that many of you live in those areas, so this may be a great option for you! (Another good news: maybe if we send them more traffic, they will grow faster and spread to more areas!)
