So it makes sense that you’d want to stay there if you could, but is being on the Strip affordable?

Are there cheap hotels on the Las Vegas Strip? After testing a variety of hotels, from budget accommodations to luxury resorts, here are my recommendations to help you decide where to stay on the Las Vegas Strip, no matter how much you want to spend.
But first, here are some tips to help you choose the best Las Vegas hotel for you.
Las Vegas is America’s top destination for a weekend getaway, so if you can avoid Friday and Saturday nights, you can often find bargains. I stayed in Paris Las Vegas on a Thursday night and the next night the price of the same room quadrupled.
But you don’t just have to think about the days of the week. Las Vegas doesn’t really have a peak season, but the city is especially busy during US holidays, especially Christmas and New Years and Spring Break. Then there are the events – hotel prices can skyrocket when there’s a big show or conference in town, so check the events list too.
Hotel In Vegas On The Strip
There are more than 30 hotels on the Las Vegas Strip, but not all are created equal. The Las Vegas Strip is four miles long and lined with hotels, so if you stay at one end, you’ll have to walk a long way to get downtown or the other end.
Frequent Deuce buses run along the Strip 24 hours a day and cost $8 for 24 hours. But traffic slows it down. So if you have limited time and want to see a lot of places, you might want to pay a little more for a more convenient location.
Even if you have already chosen a hotel and determined the best dates, the prices of the same hotel will vary depending on your location. I found the same room at the Bellagio one night in August, prices ranging from $180/£135 to $240/£180 on various sites.
So it’s a good idea to shop around and try a few different booking sites as well as the hotel’s own site. If the prices are very similar, it’s usually worth booking directly with the hotel, as many have loyalty programs where you can get discounts or freebies.

Whether you book directly or through a booking site, most Las Vegas hotels charge an additional daily fee that is not included in the room rate. Resort fees for hotels on the Las Vegas Strip range from $25 to $45 per night before taxes, which you usually pay at the end of your stay.
The fee was originally meant to pay for extra services – some hotels include extras such as airport transfers, local calls or sports facilities – but now it can be a sneaky way to increase profits. Some hotels announce their fees more upfront than others, but be sure to check. For the hotels listed here, I have included the resort fee in the price calculation so that it is clear at a glance.
You might think that if you’re on a tight budget, you’ll have to stay at a hotel near the Strip — like the Westgate Hotel* — but with the competition from Las Vegas, some resorts offer budget rooms and hope that the casino they can spend money on is huge. So you can negotiate a bargain.
Budget hotels in Las Vegas are often located at one end of the Strip, such as STRAT* (formerly the Stratosphere) on the north side. It’s in a bit of a run-down neighborhood with not much going on around here, but an easy 2 mile bus ride to the Central Strip or Fremont Street. My STRAT “select” room had two large double beds and a private bathroom with a bathtub. You don’t get many extras, but the rooms are spacious and clean.
Tallest Hotel In Las Vegas May Not Be The One You Think
The casino offers a variety of dining options, including a microbrewery, a grill, a coffee shop, and Starbucks for breakfast. There is also a pool under the tower (but not many sunbeds, so get one early) which is in the best place to watch people jumping from the top of the tower. The resort fee is $36 per night, and hotel guests get half-price access to the Tower’s observation deck (regularly $25).
If you have more to spend, head to the retro Tropicana* at the southern end of the Las Vegas Strip. It’s one of the few original casinos from the 1950s, and although it’s been renovated by current owner Hilton, it still has a retro entrance – complete with a vintage Chevrolet.
The interior is designed in a light and airy tropical ‘South Beach style’ with white walls decorated with greenery and orange pops. I stayed in a standard room at Paradise Tower, but it can be upgraded to a pool bungalow. All rooms feature themed plantation shutters and rattan furniture, as well as large flat-screen TVs, safes and desks.
The lagoon pool is a great place to relax with a waterfall and hot tub surrounded by palm trees and plenty of sun loungers and cabanas. There are theaters, comedy clubs and live music venues. Dining options include casual beach cafes, Bacio’s Italian Restaurant, Robert Irvine’s Public House and Red Lotus Asian Kitchen. The resort fee is $37 per night.

Budget a little more and you can live in the heart of the Paris Las Vegas Strip*. It is in a great location within walking distance of the main attractions. The Paris-themed hotel has its own version of the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre. And of course the Eiffel Tower – with a large octagonal swimming pool under one foot.
I stayed in a huge corner room decorated in Versailles-era French style, with antique dark wood furniture, gold and blue accents, and a pink marble bathroom. While the rooms aren’t the most modern, they do have a coffee maker and refrigerator, and there were armchairs by my window to fully appreciate the view of the Bellagio fountains.
In Paris, there is a Château nightclub on the lower floor of the Eiffel Tower, and a restaurant and observation deck on top. The resort features 15 restaurants, including Gordon Ramsey Steakhouse, an East Coast Italian restaurant, a rooftop bar and grill, Creme de Paris and Mon Ami Gabi, a bistro overlooking the Las Vegas Strip. The resort fee is $37 per night.
The Bellagio* may not be the fanciest hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, but to me, it’s classic Vegas—it still feels like you could meet Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr.’s props. The resort is one of the largest on the Las Vegas Strip with nearly 4,000 rooms, but the staff-to-guest ratio is high, which you wouldn’t know from the service.

The resort is located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, but backs onto a lake with a famous fountain, allowing you to escape the hustle and bustle of the streets. Decorated in pastel colors, the rooms are modest and elegant with Italian furniture. There are 20 restaurants around the Bellagio, including one with a $100 million Picasso painting on the wall.
Bellagio also has its own designer mall where you can shop Armani and Chanel, a spa, an art gallery, an indoor botanical garden, a nightclub, a cocktail bar and a Cirque du Soleil show. The resort has five pools where you can book luxury cabanas with ice towels. Resort fee is $45 per night.
My husband and I would like to travel to Vegas and would like to know if any hotels/motels have in-room kitchens. We are on a tight budget and we thought it might save us money to have our own meals instead of going out or ordering out every meal.
We love the Hilton Resort at Flamingo! Complete “apartment” kitchen area etc. for the same price as a standard room. The area is also great, close to the Flamingo Casino and the Vegas Monorail station.
