Today, I’m sharing low-cost alternatives, more affordable nursery furniture, and budget-friendly options to get the same look as Eliza’s neutral nursery!
Although some of the pieces in our nursery are a splurge, the same neutral, natural atmosphere can be achieved at a much lower price. You can see my original full nursery here but really my point, putting this space together is still the most fun I’ve ever had creating a space. We were in the midst of such an emotional but hopeful time and the nursery was my latest passion project. A year later, I still love every piece and every decision we made to design and decorate Eliza’s room, but if you’re looking for a minimalist look, I’ve searched high and low for similar alternatives. I decided from the start that I wanted a full size, durable dress that would stay with her for years to come (let’s be honest, I wish it would stay in my closet for years to come haha). Things To Look For When Buying A Nursery Set
These things *. Since we open and close the drawer 167 times a day, it definitely gets a workout and I fully believe it’s worth paying more than IKEA dollars to get the longevity. While it’s not crazy expensive for what it is, it’s not cheap either. However, it sold out a few months ago and is still back in stock. Good news though – I found a matching mosaic double dresser for literally half the price! The legs and hardware are different but 1. I like the color of the iron and 2. it would be an easy paint/rub and buff job.
If you’re still basically set, I actually found our dress, today only in limited quantities in a light gray wash. And, it sells for around $400. The metal is brushed silver instead of gold but it looks nice (there are more product photos below the listing.)
I’ll be honest, the limits of my rocking chair “research” were that I liked the look of the seat, I like that you can change the base to the chair legs later, and I wanted the Sunbrella fabric. That said, and while I love this chair and it’s been serving as our dinner spot for months, I found an alternative for a ton less price (free shipping too!). The chair I have (here) is on sale. This weekend.
I think it was the biggest spill in the room. However, I was dead on the wood side. In my opinion, if we were to design a nursery for a gender we didn’t know yet, it was a specific detail that was non-negotiable. It comes with removable parts for transferring it to a toddler bed (if we go that route), it’s very cute and sturdy, but it definitely has a high price tag. I found a similar one from PB Kids that has exactly the same lines, just not the steak details, for half the price. It’s still not cheap but it’s on sale here on weekends.
