Popsicle stick crafts for kids and adults are an easy way out of boredom. I always look forward to summer, so I thought these dollar store craft sticks would be perfect for a DIY project. Popsicle sticks are one of those craft supplies that you probably already have tucked away in a drawer somewhere. Add art paint and hot glue, and you have easy popsicle wall art to display anywhere in your home.

I hung mine to add a pop of color to my stereo cabinet. It also looks great as a door sign or summer porch decoration. If you hang it outside make sure it is protected from the weather.
This popsicle stick craft is quick to make in about an hour (including dry time). Best of all, once the season is over, you can fold it up very thin to store for next year.
I made this summer sign in rainbow colors to match my aesthetic, but you can paint it any color or stain it with wood stain.

Fun Popsicle Stick Crafts For Adults You Have To See!
These are the ingredients you will need. All correct values are on the printable card at the bottom of this post.
You can easily use this popsicle stick craft idea to make a sign for any season! Use pale colors and write the letters SPRING. Try jewel tones in autumn or blue colors in winter.
Use your child’s favorite colors and write their name for a cute bedroom door sign. Stick wooden squares vertically to turn them into a banner – perfect for longer words like “Happy Birthday”.
I didn’t use Mod Podge for this craft, but you can paint a clear coat over your finished sign to seal it. This can help it hold up better if you hang it outside or in direct sunlight where the weather can fade it. Mod Podge isn’t the best glue, so it won’t work for sticking sticks together.

I used hot glue for this popsicle stick sign, but other craft glues should work as well. Some may have a longer dry time than hot glue. Make sure your area is clean and free of wood dust. In my packs of popsicle sticks, some were chipped and many were bent, so they were unusable for this craft.
If you want to cut your craft sticks, you can probably use a pair of good old fashioned scissors. If yours is thick and won’t work, you can use an x-acto knife to mark where you want to cut, and snap it off. You may need to smooth the rough edges with scissors or sandpaper.

(Don’t get me wrong, I love crafts. That’s why I made a whole website about them. But I especially love DIYs that achieve a high-end look for half the price, like this coffee stirrer wall art.)
And if you’re reading this, I’m guessing you like to do things too, because, well, that’s what we do here. So I think you can relate to the idea of aproject and how you can get stuck in your head like a Bruno Mars song, refusing to come out until you just talk.
Here’s what happened with this DIY wall art idea. It came to me one night as I was walking around our bedroom in the dark. (To comfort Baby Quinn, of course. I wouldn’t have it any other way. At least not often.) I was thinking about some three-dimensional art pieces that I could DIY for our bedroom gallery wall. I wanted something that would add texture, warmth and angle, but unfortunately, most of the DIY geometric display shelf tutorials I’ve seen are complicated.
So in a moment of frozen-dessert-craft-mashup inspiration, I managed to make an awesome hexagon shelf out of one of the most basic things out there—popsicle sticks. Every night since I’ve been back (and believe me, there have been many), I’ve been working on my plans for this mid-century inspired hexagon shelf.

In fact, I thought about it so much that I came up with an expanded hexagon shelf idea that I’ll share in Part II next week. It’s still mid-century-y and popsicle stick-y.

Popsicle Stick Christmas Crafts
1. Add a drop of glue to both sides of the three popsicle sticks and place as shown.
3. Continue gluing and placing in this manner until your hexagon shelf is as deep as you want it to be. Mine is 16 feet deep.
4. Allow the glue to dry. Do your best to prevent your three-year-old from using your continuous shelf as a wooden bumbo chair for his dolls.
7. If you like, attach a picture hanger to your shelf. I skipped this step because I chose to put two nails in the wall to hang the shelf.

Here’s a tip: If you’re trying to photograph your project and decide to plant a cactus during the photoshoot, don’t do it in your bathroom sink.
