Allen and Karn will also take a look at the history of each of the crafted items throughout the episode.
“We buy, we scrap, we replace… we rinse and repeat. What happened to repair and rebuild? There are some people who unfriend, unfollow, and destroy anything that offends, annoys, or offends—that’s why I created a show to remind people of the satisfaction and pride that comes from reclaiming something on your own.”
Tim Allen also added that he was excited to join forces and reunite with former colleague Karn, adding: “Who better to join me than an old friend.
“Albert Einstein once said, ‘I’m not a genius, I’m just curious,'” Allen continued. “Well, let’s find out! Even a chimpanzee would at least be interested, right? Wait – I think I’ve got another idea for the show!”

Home Improvement was a television sitcom that ran from 1991 to 1999. He played Tim Allen, who played Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor. In the series, Tim co-hosted the home improvement television series Tool Time with host Al, played by Richard Karn.

The series also followed Tim and his wife Jill (played by Patricia Richardson) as they raised their three grown sons: Brad (Zachery Ty Bryan), Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and Mark (Taran Noah Smith). Tim often sought advice from his perceptive (but nosy) neighbor Wilson (Earl Hindman) to help him navigate the challenges of being a good husband and father while trying to be a good husband and father.
Tim Taylor was undoubtedly one of Tim Allen’s most recognizable roles. In fact, Taylor even made a brief appearance on the final season of Allen’s more recent show, Last Man Standing.

“Tool Time” on Home Improvement was a parody of “This Old House” hosted by Bob Vila from 1979 to 1989. Although Al was obviously a big fan of Bob Vila, Tim was clearly jealous of him. Throughout the series, whether implicitly or overtly, Tim Bob tried to outdo everything Vila did. When Bob Vila guest-starred on “Home Improvement” and Tim’s “Tool Time” show, Tim’s attempts to do something bigger and better than Bob resulted in comedy gold for the audience.
“I was delighted, I had a great time and the show was very well received,” said Bob. “They were all really nice people to work with. So it was a pleasure for me.”
After all these years, it looks like Bob Vila still lives in Tim Allen’s head. Although perhaps in a different way than the fictional rivalry depicted in the series. In 2021, Allen started his own home improvement series with Richard Karn, but this time it wasn’t a fictional parody. “Assembly Required” pits three contestants against each other to build a mystery project in their garage or workshop.
