This is an easy yeast dough recipe and after one batch of Chocolate Glazed Donuts, your kids will be begging you to make them more! You wouldn’t think so, though! There are so many ways to eat these delicious donuts, I recommend making a donut bar (described below) so everyone can make their own version!
This easy chocolate glazed donut recipe has ingredients you may already have which means you can start making these right away! Eggs, sugar, butter, milk, yeast, flour etc… it’s all you have on hand! I like to make these on the weekend so I can let the dough rise completely and not be rushing to cut it.
Trust me – it’s worth letting the dough rise because you’ll get an amazing shape! I can’t explain it. You just have to do them and see for yourself!

I am a firm believer that families share food in the kitchen! That’s why I always talk about doing “bars”. Coming to donuts, I like to make “Donut Bar”. I’ll make a chocolate glaze, sometimes I’ll make a vanilla or strawberry glaze too.
Then I’ll gather up delicious things like graham cracker crumbs, sprinkles, nuts and anything else I can find, and put it on the table! Then each of us can create a unique donut!
It’s fun (and sometimes scary) to see what combinations the kids come up with! It’s a fun, entertaining, and crazy mix that sparks conversation!
If adding donuts with chocolate glaze and candy or nuts is not your style, you can also take out a can of cream or whip, and then add your donuts with fresh fruit and cream! It’s delicious!

These are completely different types of donuts and I prefer yeast donuts like the ones in my recipe here much more! Baked donuts also taste like delicious cake to me – but not what I think of when I think of donuts.

Although they are all delicious, I like to keep things as simple as I can, so I stick to the basic recipe and make my chocolate glaze with powdered sugar, milk cow, cocoa powder and vanilla!
There are a few ways to find out but my favorite method is the Poke Test! If you sprinkle your flour, does the hole fill up immediately? If so, you’re good to go! Otherwise, you have something else to do.
Unlike during your first rise, you don’t want your dough to “rise” or your donuts may fall. After 30 minutes, check your donuts. If you click the anchor on one of the donuts, does the input fill back up?
If so, they are not made into evidence. If not, you’re good to go! And yes… you read that right! This is the opposite of how you’ll know when you’re done mixing. Just check it regularly and fry them when they are ready!
How To Make Dunkin’ Donuts Hot Chocolate
I like my oil pan to be full and ready to heat after the first 30 minutes. Once the dough is ready, I will remove the towel to let the donuts dry a little and dry the oil.

My favorite donuts are chocolate glazed donuts with rainbow sprinkles like the ones I used to get from Dunkin Donuts as a kid which is what inspired this recipe. You can’t make these donuts this way! Substitute cocoa powder for powdered sugar and you’ve got yourself a vanilla glaze!
