For smooth leather shoes, we recommend Saphir’s Cleanser. This gentle cleaner will help remove accumulated old polish, stains and dirt. It will do this without drying out your skin.

Apply a small amount to a clean cloth and apply an even layer over the entire boot. Spread the cream in circular motions. Repeat on the other boot. Brush vigorously with a horsehair shoe brush. Voila, clean leather boots!

Using shoe polish too often will wear down the leather. You should not use it after every wear. Usually every 10+ wears. Use a cleanser if something happens or every few months, depending on your wearing habits. Do not use it more often than that.

Cat Scratches On Faux Leather Boots. Help!

If your shoes are made of suede, you need a different shoe care product. For polished leather shoes, we recommend Saphir’s Omni Nettoyant Suede Shampoo. This cleaner is specially formulated to clean suede without damaging the coat or drying out the skin.

Place a small amount in a small container of water. Mix until bubbly. Use the included brush and rub the solution into the entire sanded leather shoe. Repeat with the other shoe. Rinse off excess soap solution with water or dry with a microfiber cloth. Allow to air dry overnight. DO NOT put your shoes next to the heater to speed up the process. This will damage the skin.

Now that your shoes are nice and clean, it’s time to style them. Conditioning the skin essentially moisturizes or hydrates it. Much like your hands could use lotion when they’re cold or dry, so can your skin.

Again you add oils, fats and waxes that keep the skin supple and healthy. Hydrated skin is more pliable and flexible. Dry skin is prone to cracking and looks bad. Conditioning is a key step in the care of any skin type.

The Best Shoe Polishes In 2022

For smooth skin, you will need a skin conditioner. Saphir’s Leather Lotion or Saphir’s Nappa Balm work great here. They contain highly nutritious natural ingredients such as lanolin and jojoba oil.

Apply a thin to moderate layer to the entire shoe using a soft cloth or soft brush. Repeat with the other shoe. Brush with a horsehair brush. Friction and heat from brushing help in the action of the regenerating cream, as well as its even distribution. That’s it. Easy.

For suede, you will also need a leather conditioner. This will be a spray instead of a cream though. Saphir’s Suede Renovateur is the only leather regenerating spray for suede. It is specially formulated with almond oil.

Apply a thin and even layer over the entire shoe. Let it air dry. At least 30 minutes, and there is nothing wrong with waiting overnight. When finished, brush with a suede or horsehair brush. Kiwi Shoe Polish

You don’t need to do these conditioning steps every time you polish your shoes. 3-6 times a year is enough for most people in most climates. Be sure to care for your shoes whenever you use a cleaner.
