When Is Furniture Market 2023 – High Point Market is a large furniture trade show offering the latest home furnishing trends in furniture, lighting and accessories. The show is held twice a year in April and October. The market brings 75,000 interior designers, architects and buyers, and 2,000 exhibitors spread across downtown High Point, NC.
It’s not the first time I’ve been to this market, but it’s been a few years thanks to COVID. The event is open to trade only, but I can attend with a press pass. I brought my friend Amy (a fantastic graphic designer) to take pictures. Many thanks to him for taking some of these photos!

It would be impossible to see every building and exhibit in one day. But we made it to several buildings and took a ton of pictures. I love participating in the market to see trends in furniture and decor to better support my readers and interior design customers.
Us Furniture Exhibition Organiser Expands Portfolio
From pattern mixing to jewelry, maximalists will love the next 2 photos. It’s not my style as a designer, but I love them all! Rifle Paper Co. I love almost all of the rug designs (the wisteria cream square rug is in my living room). Bathroom cabinets are great.
I love reading and collecting books. Antique books often have beautiful covers, and you can decorate them even if the books are falling apart.
We’ve seen the cover book trend in several exhibits. According to Go Home, they duplicate and restore old library books.
Although High Point is known for its furniture design, I can’t go to High Point and see the lighting trends. Overall Palecek had the most interesting designs. Beaded fittings are still traditional, but more mixed with metals and colors.

Accessories are such an easy way to brighten up a simple room. They may sound a little confusing, but all things considered mattresses are cheap upgrades and affordable rentals.
The vase in the next picture is perfect for texture and color. The chairs at Jamie Young Co. had beautiful patterns and the woven chairs at Palecek were stunning. Also love the idea of framing a large rug as a piece of art. Depending on the price of the frame, it would be cheaper than buying a larger piece of art of the same size.

High Point Market is the place to see home design trends for 2023 as they begin to enter homes across America.
The introduction of trends was not rare. Some trends have been around for a while, but the pandemic is breaking. Although there is some innovation, the rate at which innovation is introduced has slowed down a bit. It can be so confusing for those returning to the market after a brief hiatus due to the pandemic. I’ve attended every market for the past nine years, so I’ve had great luck with new introductions that hit the market.

The image above summarizes the color palette we saw on the market: dusty mauve, traditional green, arrow, steel blue, clay red. This color palette was one of the key concepts I recently saw at Heimtextil last June. However, the saturation of the color palette seen in the US is not significantly lower, which is often the case when I compare textiles from Europe to the US. Here in the US, we play it safe and don’t indulge – especially when it comes to color. Moving from modern to face, the color palette combinations shown in this photo have been seen all over the market. We’ll see more of this home design trend in 2023.
What are the other common trends and 2023 furniture trends that cross the High Point Market? Here are a few and some of my reviews:
Whether vintage or freshly made, travertine is hot. Natural, monolithic and full of character. There’s something about it – it’s one of the few gems that reads like a year. A recessed top, subtle veining, and a warm battery tone blend well with wood and warm-toned metals, such as antique or patina brass.
This is a 2023 furniture trend that I use in my own projects and will continue to do so. The material is classic and timeless, but the shapes being created today are very modern. A classic marriage between the past and the present.
High Point Furniture Market Trends Spring 2023 — Tag & Tibby Design
Staying at home for the past two years is definitely one thing to “work from home,” but shouldn’t “playing at home” be something too? It actually is. The pandemic is undoubtedly one of the reasons why we are seeing more gaming tables on the market. You know what they say. “All work and no play makes Jack a silly boy.” With all the features of this amazing gaming table, there’s no reason for Jack to be stupid anymore.
A cream-colored cake. I saw him everywhere. You’ve seen YOU everywhere. And when I say everywhere, I mean everywhere. Boucle is still one of the biggest home design trends of 2023. Although this trend started before the pandemic, showrooms are still full of leather accent chairs and ottomans. It hit the mass market, but I didn’t put it on my list because the trend was at its peak. I think too much of a good thing can turn into a bad thing, but I understand it. It’s safe and creates a sense of comfort and safety – a feeling we’ve all longed for since the pandemic hit in 2020. I’ve seen a lot of it, and it looks poised to move on to other 2023 home decor trends.
Fortunately, I see the trend slowly growing. There are many colors other than cream in our repertoire that we see in the market and from our fabric suppliers. Tweed is the newest interpretation of the buckle. It’s not that tall, but still retains its rugged texture and warmth with the addition of eye-catching colored yarns. What I love about the quilt is that you can add so many different colors, but it still reads as neutral. This is the perfect solution for those who are really hesitant to use color in their space. You can subtract colors to add space. We often use it in our projects and use different colored yarns to coordinate all the colors in the room.
I love a nice and exposed wood or metal leg, but nothing says custom like a fully braced leg. At the High Point Fall 2022 market, I saw several cases where every foot, leg, and arm was elevated from head to toe. It’s not easy to do well, so you need a skilled professional. I really like it and the great thing is that you don’t have to be afraid to match the wood stain to any of the other colored wood in the room – it goes with everything!
Insights Into The Wooden Furniture Market’s Growth Opportunities Through 2023 2032
There is no doubt that our pets have moved into their homes. Renovated kitchens now have separate pet-feeding areas integrated into the cabinetry. The laundry room has a special pet wash station that blends in with the decor of the house. So why shouldn’t pet beds match the furniture in the room? Designer pet beds have appeared all over the market, and they are a must-have purchase for the pet-loving consumer. They are made of the same color wood or brass frames, or with the same or coordinating furniture as the family room sofa. We believe we will see more of this trend as manufacturing textile production increases.
So there you have it – my review of High Point Market – Fall 2022. What do you think about 2023 furniture trends in the coming year? Some other observations – lots of ottomans, Art Deco influences, emphasis on sustainability and lots of curves! Overall, there were strong elements that would resonate with the consumer and make a big impact in the mass market. Design and creativity continue to evolve – especially for designers to constantly engage with new ideas in interior design so they can do what they love.
