Because WWE continued to pay Jeff Hardy while he was on vacation, a year and eight months were added to his contract – meaning his contract was extended. Matt Hardy claimed that while Jeff Hardy was recovering, he worked every day and didn’t take a vacation and that’s why he was able to leave the company after his contract expired.

“When it happens in WWE if they still keep paying you, they can extend his contract so he has a year and eight months on his contract versus my contract. I’ve been working full time without ever getting injured. That’s why Jeff still works there.”

Where he revealed that he decided to leave WWE due to creative differences. He said he had a different idea for his in-house character, but WWE wasn’t on the same page with him. At one point, WWE even asked Matt Hardy to join WWE NXT and according to many, that could be the reason behind Matt Hardy’s exit.

Matt Hardy said: “The reason I had to leave WWE is because, when it comes to my creative attitude, and my creative opinion on myself and my career.
