How Often To Do Microneedling – I recently started microneedling and I AM OBSESSED! The main reason I am doing microneedling is to improve acne scars and fine lines that I get with aging. After just one 1.0mm microneedle treatment, I have seen amazing results! I know my skin better than anyone and I also take close up photos almost every day to see every change that is happening with each passing day. It’s not always the best part of my job. But with just ONE treatment, my skin looks smoother, the lines around my mouth have diminished a bit, and my acne scars have improved. And that’s just from ONE treatment. How Often To Do Microneedling
You talk to a professional! I am NOT a professional. I am just a person who now loves microneedling and all I can share is my own personal experience. Seek out an esthetician, dermatologist, or find another skin care professional who can see if microneedling is right for you!
Laser Treatment & Microneedling Results
You may have heard of microneedling at home that you can do with your own microneedling, but professional microneedling is on another level (from my experience). In a professional setting, microneedling involves the use of a lancing device to create micro-lesions in the skin that trigger the repair response. The needle prick creates a microscopic channel that causes the body to start producing collagen and elastin to repair the “damage.” This results in improved skin texture, firmness, reduction of scars, fine lines and pore size, diminishes the appearance of discoloration, and even helps with stretch marks.
At my esthetician’s office, it costs $250 per session for the entire face. The price will vary depending on where you live and the esthetician you work with, along with how much surface area you are covering with your treatment.
It totally depends on the person and the results they are looking for, but they recommend 4-6 treatments about 4 weeks apart.
You can’t just do a treatment and expect results. Think of it this way: You wouldn’t go to the gym and do a workout and expect to gain 20 pounds of muscle or lose 20 pounds. You wouldn’t even expect that after 6 times in the gym. Skin care is the same way. You will see great results in 4-6 treatments, but we always age, which means that skin always ages. Constantly staying on top of your skincare routine will help you see long-term results. Consistency is always key.
How Often Should You Get Microneedling? June 2023
It totally depends on the needle you use. I did a treatment with the 0.5mm microneedle and I could barely feel anything. But my second treatment with the 1.0mm microneedle was definitely more annoying. You’ll get numb sooner, which helps, but tends to be a bit painful towards the end as the numbness wears off. On a pain scale of 1-10 I would rate it a 5. I still think the profractional is much more painful.
The recovery process for the microneedles is quite easy. Your face will be red the first day and then for the next week you will have little dots on your face. But you can wear makeup for day 3 and it covers most of the little spots. I promise you, you will notice it more than other people. It took about 10 days for my skin to fully heal and show true results. But this is definitely a treatment that you can do on a Friday and be ready to go to work on Monday with a bit of makeup on!
No. They may clear up one or two breakouts, but are not recommended if you have active cystic acne.
Aging gracefully!! Even if you don’t have acne scars, you’re always aging, which means your skin is constantly aging, too. Microneedling will help improve the texture, fine lines, and discoloration of your skin!
Microneedling Advantages And Improvements With Skinpen
Now I wanted to explain to you what the process looks like visually. Below is shown during treatment. After numbing you a bit, they will wipe off the numbing cream, then use the microneedle on you, clean up any remaining blood, add a stem cell product or other product, and then move to another area. This blood is cleaned and does not continue to bleed since the holes created by the needle are microscopic.
I also wanted to show you what skin looks like with some makeup on. This photo below is from day 3 and I only have a little tinted moisturizer and bronzer. The tinted moisturizer covers most of it with just a little bit of discoloration and visible spots.
These comparison photos below are 10 days apart. I took the first photo right before my microneedling appointment and then the second photo is 10 days later. For me, I can see a big difference since it is my own skin. Acne marks on the cheek have improved and the fine lines around the mouth appear plumper and less defined. And that’s only after ONE date. I can’t wait to see how my skin looks after 6 treatments!
UPDATE: Below is a photo taken 10 days after my second microneedling treatment. The scars on my cheeks have improved tremendously and the lines between the brackets have become softer and less defined.
Is Microneedling Better Than Botox?
UPDATE: Below is a photo taken 10 days after my third microneedling treatment. My skin looks a bit different when it comes to color as I have melasma and it was triggered by being in two hot countries next to each other. I even wore a hat whenever I was outside, but melasma is caused by hormones AND increased internal body temperatures, so it’s hard to avoid. But if you can look past the color change, you will see a huge improvement in my fine lines and scars on my cheeks. I have been incredibly happy with the changes in my skin texture and how much the deep smile lines (lines in parentheses) have diminished with each treatment. I am SO happy with the results.
UPDATE: Below is a photo taken 10 days after my fourth microneedling treatment. I couldn’t be happier with the results of the microneedling! I continue to be amazed each month with the progress I see! The lines around my mouth continue to improve and the scars on my cheeks are barely visible at this point. This will definitely be a treatment that I will do regularly!
To conclude, I LOVE MICRONEEDLING! The results after just one treatment have me hooked and I can’t wait for the next one. I plan to do 6 treatments 4 weeks apart, then I will decide with Marcy how often I should continue receiving them. After 6 treatments I will also add more photos to this post with an update on my skin!
