Make Your Own Crystal Jewelry – Over the last few weeks I have come across many instances where I have been referred to as a DIY Jewelery blogger. I don’t disagree with this as such, but I’ve always thought of myself in the simpler form of “DIY blogger” and not wanting to pigeonhole myself into such a specific category, made a conscious effort to branch out jewelry from time to time. I often wonder why I keep coming back to jewelry so much. At uni I studied textile design and I have always had ambitions to make my own clothes. I really appreciate embroidery, printing, weaving and surface design. I wonder what interior DIY I want to fill my small apartment with, but for some reason it’s jewelry that I go to. The funny thing is, I don’t even use that much!
Maybe it’s the little details and embellishments. The interesting shapes, forms and effects that can be produced. Jewelry can make an outfit or completely change your look depending on the materials and details used. But perhaps most of all, it’s because it’s easy! Anyone can learn to make jewelery fairly quickly and once you have the basic skills it can be used in so many different ways. My style usually errs on the minimal side, but every now and then I love something a little more… well, decadent. Like these crystal necklaces.

1. Thread the eye needle through the bottom of the pearl cap and turn a loop at the top with round pliers.
