Hotels In Rochester Kent England – Located in Rochester, Kent, The Royal Victoria and Bull Hotel is a traditional inn over 400 years old.

The present inn is about four hundred years old, although it is believed that there was another inn on the same site. The Bull was an inn on the Dover-London road. During the coaching days the yard was larger with stables at the rear.

One of the hotel’s most famous visitors was Princess Victoria, later Queen, who stayed on the night of November 29, 1836. The Royal Coat of Arms is still displayed above the courtyard entrance. Perhaps the hotel’s greatest claim to fame, however, is via Charles Dickens. Dickens stayed here many times and featured the hotel in two of his most famous works, The Pickwick Papers and Great Expectations.
