Before, I always had revolving doors from roommates and different random pieces of furniture, so I never felt like I could decorate.. plus I was on the lowest possible budget.

I’ve shopped everywhere from high end to budget and wanted to share a few of my favorite home stores.
I especially love the CB2 cookware. They have beautiful pieces of marble, cocktail glasses and serving plates. I also really like their furniture, like this modern sleigh bed and they generally focus on modern furniture.
On the first floor there are kitchen utensils, appliances and storage containers, while on the second floor there is furniture for the living room + bedroom.
Their furniture is actually great for the price! We bought a couple of velvet bed frames through Amazon ( this gray one and this navy one ) and were pleased with the quality for the price.

In particular, check out Rivet for mid-century modern, Stone & Beam for cozy traditional, and Ravenna for classic decor. Amazon Home even has a bedroom collection and a collaboration with Jonathan Adler!
Boho meets bougie. I like to check out Anthropologie online to see their home and kitchen section, although there are select stores in New York that carry home pieces, including Rockefeller Center and Chelsea Market.
Best for: cute kitchenware, bowls and mugs; carpets and mirrors; velvet couches and lounge chairs. If you love colors, patterns and whimsy, this is the home store for you.
They have lots of great crockery and cutlery – from classic white plates, glam stuff for New Year’s dinner, retro Italian coffee mugs, etc. They also have centerpieces, dessert plates, napkin rings, etc.
Caswell Living Room Set
I’ve been eyeing their pottery forever for storing things like coffee, tea and flour – West Elm can be a bit more expensive, but they have frequent sales. West Elm is the more contemporary sister brand of Pottery Barn and William Sonoma Home.
This is where I bought my bed frame as I was specifically looking for a high quality tufted, taller back frame. If you want the tufted bed frame look without the big price, check out any of the websites.
If you want a really nice fabric that covers the entire front and back, buy it at Pottery Barn. They also assemble which was very helpful. Pottery Barn’s sister brands include William Sonoma Home and West Elm.
I love H&M for modern home decor, such as bathroom and kitchen accessories. I always grab cute jars, plates, and canisters for kitchen storage and change my sheets too often because their bedding sets are so affordable.

They have a huge, constantly rotating selection of new home accessories and the full selection is online. I find the quality to be decent for the price, but HM Home also has a premium collection as well as an eco-conscious line.

They also have a good selection of products sized for small spaces! I pop into their Tribeca store to check out the new additions, but the entire selection can only be purchased online.
There are a number of Jonathan Adler physical stores in NYC and I always love to pop in to see what’s new. It specializes in the “pop culture-y” type of furniture – think bright colors, modern shapes and fun quirky accents.
I absolutely love his reading chairs and bar cart, but I’m saving because they’re out of my budget right now!
They make beautiful home pieces similar to Restoration Hardware and Anthropologie and for about the same price. I especially recommend their couches and bed frames!

Dwell has a warm, modern interior that will satisfy both lovers of classic design and those who prefer modern pieces.
I love their safari animal figurines and their modest yet luxurious couches and coffee tables. Unfortunately I think they closed their Soho store recently.
You can order online and have it delivered right to your door within days. We ordered a king size to try and it did not disappoint (read our in-depth review here).
We also love their Turkish style bath towels and organic bedding! We have a basic bed set, and the combination of a plush mattress pad and a duvet cover completely transformed our bed into that of a luxury hotel.

For a long time, I wanted my apartment to be a walking Croatian catalog. They build these massive “concept stores” in big cities and literally everything about them is drool-worthy… but not at all made for the tight confines of the average New York apartment. I saved up to buy some things here like bedside tables and a couch.
I give RH a big thumbs up in the design department, but I wasn’t too impressed with the quality of the furniture. It’s definitely expensive and I originally bought the chest of drawers for the bedroom but the drawers didn’t have a soft close and kept coming up with nicks so if you really like the spring design for that but for the quality and function maybe look elsewhere.
